In the midst of handling a professional practice that does not correlate to the findings, the joy, and the aspirations taught in the faculty, we aim to bring a debate on transitioning. From academia to practice. From theory to praxis. From individual to collective. From oppression to freedom. With a focus on the reality of working in architecture offices – whether as an urbanist or as an architect- you have to navigate systems of oppression, of undervaluing yourself, and processes of suffering burning out of your joy and excitement about this field. Despite this, we want to see hope. We want to mainstream another way of constructing spatial design through understanding the reality and empowering ourselves to hack it.
Let’s first talk about the reality, and let’s find out how we can collaboratively get ready to hack the system for a more ethical design practice where our dreams have space and freedom to become.
Join the debate led by Irene Luque Martin and Caroline Newton with a panel of alumni of this faculty and their reflection in their everyday practice in an office.
On the 5th of December from 12:45 till 13:45 in Room B including free lunch!
