MONDAY 1 MARCH | GEOMATICS

Organized in collaboration with practical association GEOS.

Lecture: ‘Geomatics & Arup by Davey Oldenburg’
12:45 - 13:45 | Twitch
Join us and discover what Geomatics alumni do at Arup, an architecture and consultancy company. Next to shaping a better world using parametric design, they also monitor the world around us using advanced spatial analysis tools.

Workshop: ‘Live pathfinding for emergency response’
14:00 - 15:00 | Zoom (link will be sent after your registration via e-mail) | max. 25 participants
During the geomatics workshop CGI, they will take you on a flight! Simultaneous localization and mapping has been taken to the next level with the Hololens. Join the workshop and find out how this helps firefighters save lives!

TUESDAY 2 MARCH | BUILDING TECHNOLOGY

Organized in collaboration with practical association BouT.

Lecture: ‘An introduction to building technology’
12:45 - 13:45 | Twitch
The lecture will be an overview of the field of building technology. It will consist of a short introduction to the field by students who are in different design studios, after which a few alumni will share how they are working in the building technology field right now. To conclude, a few companies will share the value building technology students bring to the industry.

Workshop 1: ‘Introduction to circular building products’
14:00 - 16:00 | Zoom (link will be sent after your registration via e-mail) | max. 21 participants
Learn about the circular built environment and what it means for future product design. Get an introduction with a series of short lectures and videos. Work on your own building product in breakout sessions with teachers and your fellow students. Together we will discuss the future of BT and your role in it. No preparation or materials needed.

Workshop 2: ‘Rice, paper, scissors’
14:00 - 16:00 | Zoom (link will be sent after your registration via e-mail) | max. 20 participants
Structural design is the art and science of devising load bearing systems that are resource-efficient and elegant. Nature is an excellent structural designer, for example ants can carry 50 times their weight. Can you do better?

In this workshop we will start with the basic engineering properties of one material (paper) and we will discuss strategies that can be useful for stiffening and strengthening this material. You will then be tasked with designing and building a paper structure to carry a load over a given span. We will then load test your structure to destruction, analyse the failure mechanism and determine the strength-to-weight ratio of your structure. Have you beaten the ant?

WEDNESDAY 3 MARCH | ARCHITECTURE

Organized in collaboration with practical association Argus.

Lecture: ‘Office Overzee: Making do and starting up’
12:45 - 13:45 | Twitch
Two recent architecture graduates will share their experiences as a newly founded and upcoming architecture studio. This lecture will give you a look behind the scenes at what it means to start your own office and become an architect in the Netherlands.

Workshop: ‘Night of Philosophy podcast’
15:00 - 16:30 | Zoom (link will be sent after your registration via e-mail) | max. 30 participants
We want to invite you to join us in making an experimental podcast that reinterprets Zoom as a space of connection and architectural discourse. In exploring themes that personally and academically affect us during these challenging times, we want to come together to think, talk, and listen.

THURSDAY 4 MARCH | URBANISM & LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

Lecture: ‘Government, private, academic or NGO space, where do you end up?’
12:45 - 13:45 | Twitch
During this interactive lunch lecture 3-4 people will discuss a number of potential career paths after a master in urbanism or landscape architecture. People that took different paths will start conversations together to see how different their lives are and what they do now.

Workshop: ‘City building game: Hometown’
14:00 - 16:00 | Zoom (link will be sent after your registration via e-mail) | max. 20 participants
Cities are different all over the world. In this workshop we will learn from each other and see how everyone perceives a city in a different way. Starting with your own hometown!

FRIDAY 5 MARCH | MANAGEMENT IN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

Organized in collaboration with practical association BOSS.
